Jatin Das, a
multifaceted artist famous for his paintings, sculptures and drawings was born
in Baripada, Orissa in 1941. After completing his studies from Sir JJ School of
Art, Bombay he started painting full time while exhibiting his works across the
globe.
His art reflects people and their culture, as he captures these images
while traveling the world,before putting them on his canvas. Hecarefully chooses
his medium based on the subject and its origin. He uses oils, watercolours, ink,
graphics in his works. He has served in several eminent positions, including a
founder chairman of JD Centre of Art, Orissa, a consultant for Orissa
Handicraft Board and a teacher in college of Art and National School of Drama, New
Delhi among others. He has his works in many public and private collections,
including a Mural in Parliament of India, titled ‘Mohenjodaro to Mahatma Gandhi’.He is being conferred with several
awards including a Padma Bhushan for his contribution towards art.
